You have to register on the website and gain access to the courses for studying. The exam consists of 50 multiple choice questions and the time to solve it is 1 hour 15 minutes. You have to score at least 75% in order to clear it.

How Long Does It Take For The Card To Arrive?

After clearing the exam, your pleasure craft operator card will take between 3-5 weeks to arrive. Since this a long time, you may print a temporary operator card to use while you wait for the permanent license to arrive.

How Much Does The Boater Exam Cost?

The cost of the exam is $44.95+tax. This includes exam fee and the fee for shipping the card to your home. There is no cost to retake the exam if it is required.

Any boat with an engine or motor or a sailboat that is 19 ½ in length or longer requires a boating license to be operated.

The eligibility criteria for applying for a boating license is at least 16 years of age. Children aged between 12 and 16 may apply for a special permit which allows them to operate the boat.
